mchjc, good questions about the Asian 'nets

In fact your questions are so good, that I don't have any profound answers <g>

But I think SOHU will pay catch up with NTES and SINA, but it still might be a slight laggard for an indefinite period.

And as far as their relationship with the broader market it is indeed difficult to know whether the dog is wagging the tail or vice versa, but with just one day's bounce under the belt so far I'd say it's too early to tell.

The bottom line on these stocks IMO is that they were whacked really hard (20-25%) for a three day decline, so I'd say a significant bounce was due today. As far as where they go from here, I've just looked at the 15-minute chart on SINA and notice that it probed but did not convincingly break the down trendline from Wednesday (currently around 38). Although that's a somewhat promising start, it's not entirely convincing to me, but we'll have to see how the rest of the week moves along.
