Generals and Admirals achieve victories. All these guys were the grunts, whether capts, lts, whatever. JFK was certainly heroic to his crew; if I remember the story correctly, his boat was sunk. Altho his back was injured in the event, he towed an injured crewmate 4 miles to an island.

What is this with knocking vets? What has to be done to get any respect? Cleland loses his legs and an arm, supports the prez, and gets called weak on terror. Kerry "only gets 3 small wounds". McGovern gets the DFC,saves his crew several times, and gets tagged as being weak. What would it have taken to give these guys immunity from criticism? Did Dole need to lose his entire arm? Did Inouye need to lose his other arm? Do they have to get killed first?
