Eric, It's just beyond me to believe that the writers of the tax code meant to include all her meals and clothing as a business expense.

I'm not sure she needed to do that. She might have had legitimate business losses, which would cause her net worth to decline if you count all of her living expenses.

The real problem, though, is associating income with wealth. Huffington has a lot of wealth, but probably little income. Lots of people have rich incomes, but little wealth, especially those in high-cost living areas like Manhattan, San Francisco, and Los Angeles. Or those paying for the college tuition of their children, for example.
