Just the fact that attempt was made to contact 6 reporters is what is giving this story some legs. An "imprudent" colleague would not do that. This seems to be a concerted effort against political adversary (only by one individual).
I don't blame or condone Novak for his decision to write a story. Also, I don't expect too many favourable articles about Bush administration from him in near future.

<<Again, I would ask, why would Novak be so oblivious to blowing a covert agent's cover, except if he knew she wasn't and it was merely bad form, as the Brits would say.>>

It is stated she is an analyst, not a covert agent of any kind. Nothing dramatic. No John LeCarre here. This is old news dragged up by the demo-nuts. The administration knew of this in July and the info was turned over to the FBI for investigation. Novak himself, in several contacts with the CIA, stated the CIA was unconcerned about revealing the name of the woman, as she was a average, run of the mill employee
with no covert responsibilities. Nice try, but no cigar. The demo-nuts are getting desperate if this is the best they can do. Separately, the committee that just returned from an inspection in Iraq, including the Democrats on the Committee, were amazed at the progress made in just the last 3 months, and several, including 2 Democrat representatives, made the statement the media in this country has failed to give the true picture of Iraq's improved condition. This, again, is bad news for the looney-left.
