He wasn't "interviewing" people. He didn't pry the story out of them. THEY CAME TO HIM...
They shopped the information around to at least 6 other media mouthpieces before finding one stupid enough to print it.
It was a proactive, calculated, premeditated felony directly at odds with national security interests.

You appear to have a soft-spot in your heart for violators of the national security laws, and leakers of classified government information.
