"I know a person in Afghanistan and she says things are going well."

>>> I LOVE it! This is great!

>>> Have you signed up for TAW's 'Good Stupidity' club?

>>> Have you any information to actually deny the points I made:

1) Best Arabic-speaking troops pulled out and sent to Iraq.
2) Taliban back in the tribal regions... several Taliban supporters elected recently.
3) ISI Taliban spymasters escaped back to Pakistan during the 'Airlift of Evil'.

The September edition of NewsWeek wrote that we pulled our best Arabic-speaking Rangers out of Afghanistan - just when they were making excellent progress in the al Qaeda hunt, and in establishing good relations with the Afghan locals... and sent them to Iraq.

We replaced those forces with others who did not have the same language skills, or relationships with the locals.

Not too surprising that the Taliban is resurging... considering we backed off, and considering that several Taliban allies have recently been elected to government positions in the neighboring 'tribal regions' of Pakistan.

Graham might have been right... we took our eye off of the ball in Afghanistan. (Which doesn't help... considering all the Tali-leaders and ISI Taliban supporters we'd already let escape in the 'Airlift of Evil'.)
