Arnold may very well win, but it's closer than the CNN poll reflects. That however may not be enough. Arnold does have a knack for trivializing attacks against him. He has a great tough guy bully-mouth on him. Hard to nail down. And Davis's personal weaknesses make it difficult for him to fight back. The man just has little anger and charisma. But mark my wods, this recall is a bad idea and more bad will come from it. There may also be a second recall started up within weeks. And maybe another one after that.

the problem with this line of thinking Bill, is that you and apparently the Bush administration are reading WAY TOO MUCH into an Arnold victory, as if it is some sort of victory for the right in California and some underlying trend change is afoot here, and imo that couldn't be further from the truth.

We have an all democratic legislature and lots of people just want some kind of moderation or balance. The general public wants balance but not enough to elect McClintock, the most qualified on fiscal matters. Sound like a win for the Bush administration? I don't think so. Bush's nutty staff made some statements that Bush was going to campaign here in the event of an Arnold win. That really, really would be a waste of time. Bush should try to hold on to the states he won in 2000 if he wants to win re-election. Its not like too many people that voted for Bush in 2000 think he is doing a BETTER job than anticipated.
