Easy, there are no negative political repercussions for asking a member of the administration to resign. It happens all the time, so there is no incentive for Ashcroft not to effectively oversee the investigation.

Unlike Reno, Ashcroft has integrity and I expect he will do his job....I see no serious political problems for Bush as I have no doubt he was not personally involved.....
