I think so too, and courts can and have tried to force journalists to reveal their sources in order to effect justice. Journalists end up in jail under contempt of court orders or obstruction of justic charges. A classic example of a court trying to force somebody to talk was the old Whitewater investigate where Susan McDougal, remember her?, spent over two years in Federal prison for refusing to answer questions related to the Whitewater investigation.
