The industrial revolution caused one economy in the North and a very different economy in the South. The North had an industrial economy while the South remained an agricultural economy.

This is revisionism.

The South seceded because Lincoln won the election. Lincoln and the Republicans were abolitionists. The writing was on the wall for the South and they bolted.

The primary cause of the war and the primary cause of secession was the South's desire to keep slavery.
