George W. Bush—The Dissembler 1. Campaigned actively against a foreign policy of nation-building. Now seeks a huge budget to rebuild Iraq from a war that he initiated on false pretenses 2. Posed as a tough talking southern Governor from Texas. Is in fact an effete Northeasterner, scion of a family of multi-millionaires who are profiting greatly from their international business connections. 3. Campaigned actively on a theme of bringing ethics and honesty back to the White House. In fact, the war profiteering that has come out of this presidency, is probably the worst in American history. 4. Positioned himself as a dynamic and bold leader. In fact his major accomplishments prior to being elected Governor of Texas were serving as a cheerleader at Yale, and presiding over a taxpayer-subsidized professional baseball team. 5. Called for “no child to be left behind”. So far his fiscal and economic policy has loaded school districts down with more government red tape and less money to educate children. 6. Posed as a militarist wearing a fighter jet pilot uniform. In fact, opted for duty with the Texas Air National Guard during the Vietnam war, and never showed up for his last year of mandatory training and attendance with the guard. Thousands of U.S. Guardsmen are now being pressed into active duty and being sent to Iraq. One wonders what Bush would have done if they had loaded his Texas brigade up for Vietnam duty. 7. Campaigned on a platform of fiscal responsibility and conservatism. Is in fact running the U.S. into astronomical levels of debt that our great-grandchildren will still be paying off. 8. Positions himself as a truth-talking Christian. In fact, has told outrageous lies in order to justify a war to suit a personal vendetta, that now threatens to create hundreds more Osama bin Ladens. 9. Claims to love freedom. Is now presiding over a massive federal power grab of human rights, the most aggressive since WWII. 10. Claimed to be a straight-shooter and no-nonsense leader. In fact, there is very little uttered from the mouth of George W. Bush that we can believe.
