What I don't get is who is the "Senior White House Official" who put this out this week? Couldn't agree more. If Rove is the final target, does he have enemies in the White House that dislike him this much? The CIA is clearly very worked up about this, as well they should be. I watched Larry Johnson on Lehrer just a moment ago, and to say he is steamed at the White House and Novak is to understate it. I think Josh Marshall is right, if they try to reframe it as leaking classified information and hope that will blunt it by normalizing it, they won't work. They need to simply do the full dump. And move on. Or their troubles will multiply. Bush is notoriously arrogant about these things but he's also reasonably politically smart. The two are in conflict right now. Will be interesting to see which path he picks. Mathews compared it to the Watergate burglary tonight and noted it was much more serious.
