One writer's presentation. Do you realize that based on a fair reading our liberal press, some Europeans and others abroad have long believed that the U.S. is like a '20's-Chicago gangster land, with gun-toting criminals controlling city streets?

The media only sells bad news. "If it doesn't bleed, it doesn't lead."

Of course not everything is going well. The question is one of progress in the face of obvious adversity. The very link you give acknowledges that the situation in most of the country is stabilizing, for example. It does not deny Rumsfeld's benchmarks of progress, either. It merely seeks out some Iraqis in the Sunni Triangle who are disillusioned. Even then, most admit they had high hopes of the overthrow of Saddam, and therefore supported the invasion, and makes their exasperation largely contingent on material progress in the area. Indeed, the Reuter's story is belied by the recent Gallup poll, and strikes me as anecdotal crap........
