Taiwan Semicon Denies It Has Commented On 2004 Capex Plan
Wednesday October 1, 12:42 am ET

TAIPEI -(Dow Jones)- Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. hasn't made any comments on its proposed capital expenditure for next year, a company spokesman said Wednesday.
"We have not made any public comments on our 2004 spending plans," said J.H. Tzeng, head of public relations at the firm.

He said TSMC's policy is to issue a public statement if it comments on its current or future performance.

The Economic Daily News said Wednesday that TSMC would spend more on new plants and equipment in 2004 than the US$1.25 billion it has targeted for this year.

Tzeng also said TSMC hasn't made any new comments on its 90-nanometer output, again contradicting the Economic Daily report which said the company expected 90-nanometer production to make up 1% of revenue by the fourth quarter of next year.
