Not sure what you mean Sig, If you mean government should "make work", then of course you know that the taxpayers pay for that. And nothing new happens. Was your Mrs Smith a member of a union? Did she have 'tenure'....Do you suppose that the employer could no longer afford to keep her as an employee, because the medical insurance, vacation pay, sick leave pay, Family Leave pay, jury duty pay, and other benefits and Employer portion of SS tax, plus all sorts of FUTA, L&I and many other business taxes.
