Nice dream. Might come true one day as well. And I agree with you that it will be really nice when it happens.

The one little problem is that until it does, you guys are in deep trouble. Half of your military power is tied up, you have pissed off pretty much all your traditional allies so that even collaboration against terrorism is suspect. You are now officially in occupation of a Muslim country, which must be Bin Ladin's wet dream. US is more isolated and more detested than ever before, and while you may not care about this on a personal level, you have to admit it makes your efforts towards national security more difficult, international collaboration on fighting terrorist threats nearly impossible, and facilitates recruitment of terrorists in the Muslim world. I am not even going into the rationality of spending a couple of hundred billion dollars on another country, while yours is going through such economic troubles.

So yes, it will be great if one day Iraq becomes the shining beacon of democracy in the Middle East. Some generations afterwards, if coupled with a Palestinian state brokered by the US, resentment of the US might even subside. Until then, be wary of loud noises, suspicious looking characters with arms, and bags under your seat.

FOX has been subtly exposing the left wing media's lies about Iraq, but even that understated approach is a shocker for the "establishment" after having had propaganda Carte Blanche from Vietnam through the 2000 election.

While the wild-eyed anti-humanity fanatics in the Democratic party can continue to spew insanity with no limit (until the public slaps them down in elections, as they did in 2000, 2002, and will, to an even greater extent, in 2004) the left wing media has always had the relentless obligation to promote the FACADE of objectivity.

(My favorite example of durability of the permanent slant: Nixon HAD to be impeached because "he lied to the people", but Clinton-a virtuoso liar beyond compare-had to be given a pass "because it's none of our business what lies he tells." The historical revisionists in the left wing media were very sincere in this contradiction-and expected their customers to accept it without question. Indeed, most of these ambitious "journalists" stood ready to attack anyone who pointed out the historical inconsistency.)

With the rise of alternative talk radio, and now the success of FOX, the left wing media's taken-for-granted anti-American and anti-humanity attitudes are finding restrictions that were undreamed of as late as the Clinton years.

This phenomenon is already having a positive-and long overdue-effect on the national debate, which hasn't had two sides since the domestic enemy took over the Democratic party in 1970.

In politics and history, patience often pays off-as George Bush and his team know...
