So we pay 8.5 billion for some Turkish policemen?

Bush may feel it is very important to get some Muslim country into the "coalition", one that will actually help police the unruly place Iraq has become. I can't blame him.

And where is the "broad coalition" Bushies kept telling us about

It never existed. If you look in the list of countries that allegedly supported the invasion of Iraq, my personal favourites were several places I never heard of and a couple of countries with no military to speak of. There was also Turkey, which didn't even allow US troops to use its bases and land for deployment. And let us not forget Colombia, which was unaware they were supporting the invasion of Iraq until they saw their names on the list :-)
