LOL, your ignorance about DOD contracts is showing. A bid for contract has cdrl's and often more than a dozens. They will cite generic mil spec's that often cite other generic mil specs. Just about everything that will go into operational programs is bought under mil specs.

A specific program may need a few hundred items for a full operation compliment and spares. On low quanity items a life cycle quanity will often be purchased. But this may be only a few hundred or dozens depending on the nature of the mission.

Often testing including destructive testing is specified in a cdrl in the contract.

You attempt to slander others and me because you are ignorant of the process and after being told you now demostrate your stupidity.

How about a simple name plate.. Let's see, what mil specs are involved..... gmnameplate.com
You want to sell to Uncle on competitive bid...
well .

GM Nameplate is qualified to produce nameplates under MIP-P-19834B, and maintains an extensive library of U.S. Military and Federal Specifications and Standards. Our materials and constructions meet or exceed most requirements, including: Look at the list above and "meets or exceeds" is a stunning claim. with legal meaning.

Do you think it may take time just to know what in a contract to sell something? Is that time free?
In software, mil-specs make IRS rules look trivial...

Do you know what COTS is all about?
