So you see - given their known historical pattern of talking several years to plan these complex, simultaneously-timed strikes - that the mere absence of domestic attacks (because there have been several overseas since 9-11... remember Bali?) for a few years does not 'prove' that the threat is gone.

Re: "How do you know they are?..."

>>> I believe that's a fairly safe bet... given that they keep releasing video tapes and blowing people up.

"The point is at least we're doing SOMETHING about it!"

>>> Ah yes! But are 'we' doing the most effective things? are our policies going to be successful in the long run? (For example: are more terrorists being bred than killed?) Would some other combination of policies prove more successful (such as: instead of spending $300 Billion in Iraq, we spent the same amount of money developing and supporting new technologies to make ourselves energy efficient... and less in thrall to the Middle Eastern suppliers of oil... like junkies are to their dealers.)

>>> It's not ever a choice of 'this policy or no action'. It's always a choice of 'what is the best possible combination of policies and actions'.
