Thanks, mom What can I say? Habits die hard. Today I called Ammo and casually mentioned that it was the first of the month. "Is it your birthday?" he said. "No." I replied, thinking that I now understand why he missed my real birthday, which is in Feb. "Is it an anniversary?" "NO." I am caught. "Your rent is due." "Mom, I already paid it." I am contrite. "I'm just having a little trouble letting go." I say. He says, "I also have made every class, rehearsal and commitment this year." "That is SO good, and I know how busy you are." "Yes, and you know what?" he says and here he lowers his voice, secret confidential stuff coming- "I did it all without a daily planner." As I wrote to X in some jest (in case you thought I really am sitting here in a thong), there are always consequences when we choose to do anything out of step. I think Mojo should do what his conscience dictates, but understand that it could have some repercussions, and that we usually get no passes for our stands, no matter how principled we think we are. Standing on principles can be a lonely business. Also, when people do things outside the norm, they have to realize that they WILL be judged. It seems to me that there is some confusion nowadays about this. I still think that while I don't have the right to impose my beliefs on others, I certainly have the right to make personal judgments about theirs and express them.
