Iqbal, that's laughable. It was Mohandas Ghandi who pointed out that the line between good and evil runs right through the middle of each person's heart and is not some geopolitical demarcation line between India and Western Civilisation. gci.gospelcom.net <The line between good and evil passes not between principalities and powers, but oscillates within the human heart. And even the most rational approach to ethics is defenseless if there isn't the will to do what is right.

> Okay, maybe Ghandi plagiarized a good proverb or I got his quote wrong.

You go on about Auschwitz, but that's just one of hordes of genocidal efforts around the world. The Germans were just very efficient, organized and capable.

That fact is that India is a hovel of a place. But the good thing is that they vote to be poor. Nobody is making them. When they finally figure out that the British Disease of Big Government, Marxism, Unions and Bureaucracy are the problem, not the solution, they might vote for secularism in government, private enterprise, capitalism, freedom and borders open to trade. Then, the creative energy and desire for a better life will make India blossom.

Until then, it's a matter of poverty, dirt and squalor.

India booted out the British and the good aspects of the British Empire, but kept the bad parts. Half a century of celebrating independence hasn't seen much progress.

On the mass murder business, you do know that India is nuclear bomb state now?

IQBAL LATIF:

It is a universal, among all tribes and nations, to be offended, and angrily reject all criticism , defensively claiming some special virtuous trait. All nations, without exception, think they are the Chosen People.

The plan which I was criticizing, was a plan by the American government, to gather troops from India, Pakistan, Bangladesh (also Albania, and anywhere else they can find get them from), and sent them to replace American troops dying in Iraq. A foolish plan, which all those governments have rejected. I applaud the good sense of all the subcontinent's governments, not accepting the invitation to clean up America's messes.

There was no need to be defensive, as the plan I was being critical of, was that of my own government.

But it is also silly of you, to pretend that India and her neighbors are not doing the exact same bloody tribalism the rest of the world is doing.

How "spontaneous" are the repeated episodes of Hindu-Muslim violence? It looks to me like both sides are encouraging it, inciting it, carefully feeding the communal hatred, for their own political purposes. The BJP tore down that mosque, after a 10-year campaign. How spontaneous was that? And weren't the riots afterward, an entirely predictable result?

These are identical:
1. The BJP tearing down mosques.
2. Sharon going to the Temple Mount.
3. Protestant Irish marching through Catholic areas, celebrating ancient battles where they slaughtered Catholics.
4. Americans endlessly doing historical re-enactments of the Alamo, and Civil War and Revolutionary War battles.
5. Palestinians, creating shrines in their homes, to remember and glorify suicide bombers.

It is all incitement, the actions of people who in their hearts are DeathWorshippers, glorifying and deliberately provoking killing, preparing to make more sacrifices of blood to their endlessly hungry Gods of BloodAndThunder.
