We all tend to be ahead of the curve and explain things with our own special filters. No doubt. All I ask is that folks recognize that initial impressions in a complex matter like this one are often wrong. It is best to withhold judgment since there wheels within wheels at play, many of which we--the hoi polloi, the great unwashed--simply are in no position to know. At best, we can speculate. As far as convicting someone of a crime, I find it interesting that those who advocate doing so don't even have the name of a criminal in mind. Laughable.
