Its hard to get enough people behind something in a completely "grass roots" process in a state like CA. You need a lot of money to push the idea or a lot of people might never even know about it.

I'm reserving my judgment on this for a practical answer. If the recall hits 60-40 or above I'll be reasonably sure the level of discontent was dragging in a considerable portion of people who had voted for Davis in the last election and believed he'd been worthy.........of recall.

There are only so many voters who don't vote strictly partisan. It's the independent and independent minded voters from the parties that are able to keep a good balance.

Recall was tried against nearly every recent governor and failed. It's unseated only about 5 or 6 officials in the state's history.
