brent, I do not claim that I know Jesus any better than anyone. All I know is that He will have no reason to save anyone unless they believe in Him. Simple logic. It makes common sense that Jesus would require us to believe in Him as Lord, and Savior, for His gift of salvation. Again, logic.

I do not believe that the bible is the word of God. Much of the old testament is based on oral history that was, at the very least, thousands of years old. Anyone knows what happens to any story that is relayed from person, to person, to person. Each relater of the story, adds his own twist to it. The only reason I believe in the first four books of the new testament is because those that wrote them, did so as individuals, as the witnesses life with Jesus, and yet each story is almost identical to the other three.

The bible, which you believe in so completely, does not say anything about God saying that the book is His word. Only the flawed humans that wrote the book insist that it is God's word.

The quotes attributed to Jesus about the old testament, could have been the invention of the authors, or a method of using the old testament as a familiar tool to win the minds of the people.

You seem to refuse to consider the point that God may not have created man in the same way as reported in the legend. Do you, really, think that God is usually in the physical form of a puny human being?? Selling Him a bit short aren't you?? How do you know what God looks like, other than that He can appear in any shape He so desires. Suppose he is a huge mass of power that is omnipotent, and omnipresent. Suppose He is a force that resembles a one celled being. Then as He created man in His own image, he caused the elements to come together to produce the single celled life that evolved into all of the species. Yes, at first sight, it would appear that He would have to consider us just another animal, which our physical body is, but cosider that He could have selected a promising creature, and then breathed His essence into the creature, that gave it the soul that humans have. Such an event, might answer the question as to why cro-magnon man suddenly appeared on the scene, and replaced all other bipeds as the dominate force in the world.

Would an atheist believe that nothing was created without the presence of the power called God, by English speaking people?? I believe that the one we call God, is the source of all creation, but that it did not happen the way described in the bible. A sceptic of the word written by men with their own agendas, I am. A non-believer of God, I am not.
