Thanks! I hadn't thought of it that way. It is a backdoor justification for our war against Iraq. I was just suprised to read someone from officialdom saying that the war was about oil after all, when WMDs was the mantra this Spring. But, I see what you're trying to say, it does provide justification for the war. I guess that's the new angle that officialdom is going to take. We couldn't sell this war on WMDs or humanitarian grounds, let's make it sound like there is a panic to secure oil. As you said, we could buy the same oil on the open markets if we wished to do so, but the profits margins would be much much less than if we just went in and seized it for ourselves. Sick!
