Rush's show is founded on consistent easily identifiable principles.

I have said repeatedly that I have a problem listening to Rush. But I will tell you what I respect about the man. Back in 93, when Clinton had taken over, and things were so bad that the new office staff in the West Wing was reported as refusing to deal with people in uniform, Rush held the Republicans together.

I will never forget when Hillary had the bus tour going for Health Insurance, and Rush was almost single handed in his fight to stop the movement. He had people calling in reporting the route of the tour as it moved along, and people showing up each place it stopped to protest it. It drove Hillary nuts, and they went to all sorts of tricks to try to hide the bus route.

Rush basically shut down the Bus tour, and it was his daily exhortations that gave the Washington Republicans the backbone to stop the Health insurance scheme cold.

Out of that period, Gingrich glued together the uprising that resulted in the Republican 94 victory. But he did it standing on Rush's shoulders.
