Mr. Charters,.. Some !@#$%$#head is attempting to masquerade as your company. :-) Wildcat Exploration Ltd. - Update on summer field work 2003 WINNIPEG, Oct. 1 /CNW/ - Wildcat Exploration Ltd. (TSX-VEN: WEL) provided the following update on its activities. On July 15, 2003 Wildcat commenced summer exploration programs at its wholly owned gold projects in the Bissett area of southeastern Manitoba. Exploration work comprised geological mapping, prospecting and sampling on the Siderock Lake and Poundmaker properties. This work will augment work performed in 2001 and generate future drill targets. The Poundmaker property lies approximately 6 km northwest of the former San Antonio gold mine, a 1.2 million ounce gold producer. The property comprises some 13,000 hectares, (20km by 10km), encompassing an extensive and geologically diverse sequence of rocks. The property hosts more than 16 known gold occurrences with old workings (shafts, lateral development) dating back to the 1930's on two of these. This summer's exploration efforts are focused on three prospective areas; one of which had previously returned a gold mineralized sample from quartz veins and sulphidized volcanics. The sample was taken from a zone in which anomalous gold is distributed within volcanics for greater than 0.5 km near an intrusive contact. This summer's work encountered further sulphidized volcanics and quartz veining containing up to 2% chalcopyrite. The Luagna gold deposit lies along this contact, about 2 km to the southeast and immediately south of the boundary of the property. The second area, a newly recognized ankeritic shear zone - a probable splay of the regional Wanipigow fault - is being evaluated. Mineralized quartz veins in historical trenches have been sampled. The third area covers a poorly exposed regional fold structure intruded by feldspar porphyry intrusions crosscut by carbonatized shear zones. Assay results from grab and chip samples taken from the property are pending and will be released when they are available. The Siderock Lake property is underlain by rocks of similar age, composition and structures as the prolific gold producing Red Lake district. To date, preliminary exploration has identified four geological features believed to be prospective for gold. First, strongly sheared volcanic rocks occurring over a strike length of greater than 2 km have been found to be intruded by stockworked quartz porphyries which carry significantly anomalous gold values (1-3 g/t). The area is poorly exposed and lies near a major transcurrent structure. Second, an 8 km sulphide-rich iron formation in the northern section of the property is now thought to include gold-bearing chert. Earlier work by geologists from Manitoba Energy and Mines identified flakes of gold in a polished section from an historical drill hole through one of the horizons in this formation. Third, extensive quartz veining, anomalous arsenic and a fuchsite-sericite schist occur along a newly delineated shear zone. And fourth, a highly prospective ankerite-bearing sericitic schist underlies the central part of the property. Assay results from samples taken are pending. The Company's exploration programs are under the direction of Mr. Ed Sawitzky, Geologist, who also supervised the preparation of the technical information in this release. Mr. Sawitzky is a Qualified Person as defined by National Instrument 43-101. Wildcat Exploration holds the largest exploration acreage in the Bissett mining camp covering some 216 square kilometers. The Bissett mining camp is located 100 kilometres north east of Winnipeg.
