This is the report Cheney instigated late in 2000. Go through the dozen or so paragraphs from this point in the report. It's more than a little interesting to see the discussion on using WMDs as an excuse to use "political and other means" to gain control of Iraq's oil.

The most interesting part is the signature pages at the end of the report. The CEOs of energy trading companies, including the infamous Kenneth Lay. The CEO of Chevron. High rollers from BP and Shell. Henry Kissinger's law firm. Several investment banking firms. James Baker III from Carlyle Group, where George's daddy has a lot of money tied up, and which just happens to be a private investment outfit specializing in insider trading and defense contracts.

No body in the White House believed Iraq had any WMDs. Wilson didn't expose the uranium fraud. The UN Security Council exposed that claim as bogus months before the invasion, and made a laughing stock out of Powell in the process.

How many GIs did you see wearing gas masks on the road to Baghdad? If anyone in the White House honestly believed Iraq had WMDs, doesn't it seem odd no precautions along those lines were taken to protect our troops?

The simple fact of the matter is Bush didn't order the unprovoked attack until after the UN inspectors had shown beyond a reasonable doubt that Iraq was totally defenseless, and helpless to resist an attack planned 2 years earlier by those who stood to gain billions on their investments.
