don't forget insincere

Oh, I didn't. I've concluded, upon further consideration, that insincere is subsumed by manipulative, as is condescending. "Manipulative" is all that is needed, really.

If one tries to direct traffic hereabouts, one is manipulating the discussion. To even attempt that, one must assume that one has a view of events that is somehow better than that of the other participants, perhaps a broader view, or a more detached view, or a more experienced or wiser view, or whatever, or one would not presume to try to direct traffic. That is inherently condescending towards the other participants. And to direct traffic, one may have to conceal one's motive, which is inherently insincere.

So, for the folks here who care about words, I submit that the trinity is not required to express this particular notion but rather that "manipulative" is sufficient.
