The 2.5M comes from a Univ of Florida study. The 10,000 which had suicides removed comes from Unified Crime Statistics, I believe FBI maintained. The 1500 number comes from the Centers for Disease control and probably includes suicides that were labeled accidents to spare some families extra grief. These aren't politically motivated numbers. Cars and incompetent doctors are a lot more dangerous than guns in the hand of a trained, non-felon individual. Doctors killed over 100,000 and cars kill nearly 50000 every year, yet the politicians aren't pushing for sweeping car and doctor regulations year in and year out. Take a look at the following numbers. Shouldn't Feinstein and Schumer be banning bicycles for childern or putting bicycle manufacturers out of business for selling a defective products that kills kids?

Various surveys. DOJ's was around 1.5 million.

The accidental gun deaths and murders are CDC statistics IIRC.
