1) Congratulations on your anniversary. You've been married for about as long as I've been alive. And I've been married for about half as long as I've been alive.

Long marriages take on a life of their own. They are institutions in their own right.

2) Re: "loss" of trillions in the stock market. No real money was actually lost. What was lost is the wealth effect.

I've tried to explain this in an essay on the Great Depression, "Money Heaven."
