Hi Maurice, I think some folks conveniently forgets the ... oh, let's see, for starters, the monitoring of religious organizations, the search and harassment based on profiling, the suppression of free-will in regard to abortion and birth, the down-grade of liberty in matters of hiring and firing, the support of anti-democracy forces in here and the non-support of democratic forces there, the broken promises and shattered agreements, the manipulation of currency, the anti-free trade measures, the unprovoked wars of occupation and the harming of indigenous cultures.

Now that you got me started as one would on the Foreign Affairs thread that is choking on the varied and numerous moral and philosophical issues of that Israel/Palestine mess wrapped inside historical facts and religious dogma, I forgot what country I am talking about.

And now, Hawkmoon Ron, in a frenzied search for solutions on problems that arose from the manic search for other solutions, is wanting to throw away the S.Korean alliance because he is miffed with the popular democratic feelings of the youth of that country as dutifully reflected by its political institutions, just as he is down on the French, without realizing when we think of democracy, we must surely think in terms of global democracy and planet-wide decency, not what the sack of random sea water walking down some ignorant corner of the world may think based on media fiction and political fantasy borne of the same ignorance or raised on what surely qualifies as selfish ill-will.

TeoTwawKi beckons, up ahead, soon, because what cannot be will not be. Global democracy will be.

Chugs, Jay
