i'm seeing instances of others experiencing the same thing with win auto update not working well

"I won't rely on the 'automatic' update any more"

Was the same with my computer. However, the download automatically resumed next day (I'm on dial-up, not cable/DSL) and installed after a while. Must have been connection glitch or something. Also, I guess, they may run it at a low priority to not disturb your other activities, so it gets suspended if the user is doing some other stuff at the same time.
