FBI agents this weekend began questioning Bush administration officials about the illegal outing of a Central Intelligence Agency officer

I have a sneaking suspision that Ashcroft will use the technicality that Karl Rove is not on the government payroll (he is a "personal" advisor paid by citizen Bush) to not question him or inspect his phone records. Then they will announce that nobody in the administration was involved. An independant investigation is needed.

Recall how quickly those phone logs can be examined if they want to. A short time ago General Wesley Clark made this comment or joke. 'I would have been a Republican,' Clark told them, 'if Karl Rove had returned my phone calls.'
The White House was able to respond within hours. -as reported by Rush Limbaugh
Unfortunately for Clark, the White House has logged every incoming phone call since the beginning of the Bush administration in January 2001. At the request of THE DAILY STANDARD, White House staffers went through the logs to check whether Clark had ever called White House political adviser Karl Rove. The general hadn't. What's more, Rove says he doesn't remember ever talking to Clark, either." .

So it only takes hours to check if anyone talked to Wesley Clark about his possible party affiliation, but after 3 months they still haven't checked whether a felony occurred or even treason. There is some serious priority problems, or a deliberate campaign of coverup.

Of course with Rush, maybe it was just the drugs talking.
