Wow thanks for telling me that. I'll move it to the top of my very very very long list.... Maraniss is a terrific writer and terrific reporter. As I recall he received a Pulitzer. He tells the story of the U of Wisconsin demonstration and the Vietnam battle in such a way that you identify with a large array of characters. In the Vietnam story with Terry Allen, the colonel who dies, with Clark Welch who led one of the companies, with several of the radiomen and medical staff, and most suprisingly, with the Viet Cong officer of the unit that ambushes them. In the U. Wisconsin, he helps you identify with members of the administration and students of various persuasions.
