Thanks gumnam, it seems that the ECB is talking down the USD " as long as it is gradual - wonder if 1% waffling on a daily basis is called gradual.

As to the rumor on Sept. 29 there was a rumor that a well connected consultancy business who advises Soros spread a rumor that this administration want a lower USD and ECB agreed to it which was denied by the US treasury.

In any case the EUR is now at levels that start to hurt EZ exports. The German DIHK organization anticipates EUR 1.15 by year end, and anticipates severe problems for German industry above 1.25 EUR/USD.
