I'm really intrigued by this review. I may have to put aside my intense dislike for some of the actors and bow to my admiration of Eastwood, whose multi-talents are only coming to recognition relatively late in his life. I lived in that beautiful, misguided Bay State for 25 years. Despite all the talent (medicine, MIT, the list is long) that resides there, I believe that collectively they field the dumbest body of voters in the country. The reviewer's description of (apparently) South Boston ("Southy") is dead on. In a geography of four distinct seasons, Southy is frozen in one. The leaves have fallen but the snow hasn't arrived. The Irish core of the neighborhood remains not only intact but impenetrable. They single-handedly, with nationwide impact, defeated forced school bussing. And this in the face of the Kennedy Clan, supposedly their own, with Teddy as chief sponsor. It's a fascinating place, and I hope the movie does it justice as a background to the plot. Thanks for posting it.
