1 Thessalonians 4
16 For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. 17 After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever. 18 Therefore encourage each other with these words.

the verse you quoted in thessalonians 4 is commonly what is described as the "rapture". of course the word "rapture" never appears in the bible, but that is the term used to describe what happens in the verse. i have no problem with using that word to describe being caught up in the air to meet the Lord.

for the record Westi, i never said i didn't believe in a rapture. notice my complaints were against this notion of a secret rapture, where these false prophets concoct ludicrous stories of pilots flying airplanes who will just magically disappear leaving the plane to come tumbling to the earth pilotless, killing most of the passengers. that is the kind of garbage that the left behind series teaches. in fact that is the basis for the title of the book. some will be magically raptured and some will be left behind to suffer through the tribulation.

the left behind series should be left behind at the bookstore.
