Meanwhile in the oil patch

Oil prices rose to a one-month high Monday on plans for a general strike in OPEC member Nigeria and new tension in the Middle East after Israel launched its deepest air raid into Syria in 30 years.

Brent crude in London was up 25 cents to $28.96 a barrel, extending a 15 percent gain in the last two weeks. Light crude for November contract on the New York Mercantile Exchange was up 18 cents at $30.58, pushing further above the $30 pain barrier for industrialized economies.
