ild,

I have been thinking about employment and I think we need to separate them into two major categories.

The manufacturing jobs have been going overseas forever, the impact is really minimal. For example, what is the labor cost of a pair of Nike shoes, 10%? less? vs what Air Michael's cut?

On the other hand, jobs such as the software engineers are far more labor intensive, with almost no raw material involved.

How long would it take for some India entrepreneur to bypass US companies directly and work for themselves? Loss of these high paying jobs will hurt us even though it the long run, that is what the global economy need.

I don't know many software engineers. Any of you out there having a tough time finding a job?
