The issue is not what should be prevalent social policy, but whether society can afford to humor the views of some of its members under certain circumstances. I agree that the legitimacy of Mojo's views are questionable; I do not think that he meets the legal test of conscientiousness; but I think that he is sincerely basing his behavior on a scruple about intimate circumstances that could become sexualized, and that there is no reason for public sanction or even denunciation. It is an isolated instance which, as postulated, is harmless, apart from a momentary sense of offense that might be given. Should we countenance the profession behaving with similar reservations? The reasons adduced are inadequate to throw out policies fostering integration to accommodate the profession. However, it has to be shown, I think, that it is a real problem throughout the profession, not to carve out an exception for the free- lance, non- therapeutic masseur........
