woosh.co.nz The modem is NZ$400 and for about $60 a month, they provide 7 Gbytes at about 250 kbps. I had a demo at our house last week. It's portable. The transceiver has a battery and it lasts for half an hour or maybe it was an hour.

I think roamad.com with WiFi will do a better job with lower subscriber cost with better roaming.

Telecom will charge too much for 1xEV-DO if they ever stop dithering and get with the programme and install it. Now they are talking about changing to 3GSM [which I think is no more than a negotiating ploy to squeeze Lucent on price].
