Certainly reading that list of issues, they are the big ones for the Reps right now.

They certainly are for the Southern Republican "Social Conservatives" who are running the party. Fortunately, they get enough opposition from the "Libertarian Conservatives" and the the Democrats to stop their worst Social tendencies. But both sides of the Republican social divide are united on Terrorism and our present overseas activity.

The Democrats best chance is to be able to run against those ideas, but they have to be careful. Religion can be a "Third Rail." Pro-abortion, Pro-Gay, and NRA opposition can hurt also. And they are on the losing side of the Terrorist question at the moment. If the public goes sour on our FP, then they have a major opportunity.

The very "Messiness" of our political system is what keeps it chugging along.
