Novak was just doing his job in the greater Washington circus. But whoever dropped Plame's name deserves to have his/her/their butt nailed to the wall. Imagine if I reeled off a few names of spooks I knew, for some petty personal reason. You couldn't hold SI culpable for being the vehicle that made them public; but I would sure be guilty of jeopardizing not only the vague "national security" but a lot of people's lives who dealt with people I knew. If Bush had more guts he would find out who committed the leak and castrate them publicly. Let the message go out that he won't tolerate breaking the law. Of course, what we get is the mealy-mouth "I support the investigation" and ducking for cover when the topic comes up. Gag me with a spoon.
