Rush's addiction finishes him as a credible voice on anything. He'll have enough enough problems just kicking his habit, which is reportedly as bad as any heroin junkie's. He also doesn't deserve any compassion because he's never had any compassion for anyone. His demise signals the end of the neocon movement as a propaganda force in US politics. A new kind of conservatism will emerge led by more honest people.
