When I was in college I was somewhat clueless about politics. I think this is probably true of most college students. Given this, you tend to gravitate to the views of most of the people around you, or at least those who profess their views most persuasively. So, even though a students liberal views may stop at saving harp seals, he/she gets mentally overwhelmed by the liberalism surrounding them.

With the advent of conservative talk radio, a modest percent of students are now entering college with solid, firm conservative views. The liberals used to have the campuses to themselves, free to lay waste to young minds. But now these conservative college students are able to offer there fellow students the view from the other side.

Now if you could just explain why the conservative Republican Congress has gone on a domestic non-security big-government spending binge the past few years too......
