I have to say, you are a bit tone deaf. I was not appeasing Solon, I was (gently) teasing him. Only when he cooled off did I decline to fight further, which I do not take as appeasement, but as cutting my loses. I now see that you and Christopher and karen, and maybe others, miss a lot of my jokes. I am aware that your failure to argue with me does not mean that you agree with me about your overboardness. Many people think my standards on this score are too strict. If nothing else, though, I think one should resist flamefests, if possible, in order not to polarize debate irreconcilably, and because it is a bore to those not directly engaged..........
