It is, however, an indicator of the rot in the Tarry McAuliffe/Bill Clinton strategy. California, in the Democrats political view, should be flakey enough to get a re-call election on the ballot-but with no chance whatsoever of firing a liberal Democrat governor. In a flakey extreme, they MIGHT vote Davis out, but compensate by putting his equally-diseased Lt. governor in his place.

Democrats today are VERY worried about California, and 2004 in general. They can, at least, stop worrying. They are beat, BIG TIME, before 2004 even starts...
