<<Politicians exist to sucker you. Everything else is just mindless cheerleading from one mob or another. Left or right, they play the same game.>>

There are criticisms of the Republicans related to a ballooning deficit, the "true" purpose of invading Iraq, etc.. The "real" reasons for invading Iraq involves oil typically. The end result of these moves is to benefit defense contractors, oil men, etc..

The Democrats/liberal however do things for which the end result appears to be the creation of anarchy. Giving illegal immigrants drivers licenses is just plain nuts, and 74% of the people in yesterdays exit poll said so. Davis vetoed this bill twice, but only because there was no provision to do criminal background checks on applicants. Ultimately he signed it as is. But it is not only Davis, the California legislature evidently thought this bill was good for the people of California (sans background checks), and passed it up to Davis.
Go down the line and you will find instance after instance of democrats attempting to enact policy that are just crazy. I cannot help but entertain the idea that the end goal is to destabilize American society to the point that they may enact their "grand plan", whatever that may be.

Given this, I find the Republicans to be the lesser of the evils

Dale,

I assumed that your reply addressed (or commented on or corrected) something in my post. I was only commenting on why the pressrooms (and public broadcasting) would normally have a liberal bent. I would expect people who belong to unions (carpenters, auto workers, teachers) to vote Democrat and Chamber of Commerce types and Rotarians to vote Republican. People who don't generally own a lot of taxable property will vote one way, those who do will vote the other. I didn't see a black and white or good and evil in my post; surprised you did.

But it is interesting if the increased automobile tax is what turned so many Democrats on Gray Davis. Normally tax increases hit only one party.
