Re: federal judges and technology. Last week I went to a status conference in the U.S. District Court that is handling the Moussaui (spelled wrong, I know but fageddabout it) trial and a lot of the terrorism stuff - my case is a plain vanilla sexual harassment case - we had to set various dates - and I brought my Palm Pilot, which has my calendar - which the deputies confiscated as I went through the metal detector. No electronic gadgets allowed in the courthouse whatsoever, not phones, not beepers, nor PDAs. Probably not laptops, either.

They locked it in a locker and gave me the key and I picked it up on the way out.
